Not as good as I expected

I read the first book in this series and thoroughly enjoyed it. So I sorta, kinda had expectations that this would measure up....WRONG.
Gage meets Marina and somehow forgets, even though he has been trying to set up a meeting with her dad (who has the same last name) to put two and two together. If he's scouting this business to buy it, how would he not know she's the daughter of the owner? Or that she's running the bakery? What kind of real estate entrepreneur is he? It was just so illogical and silly.
I hate, hate, hate when characters in a book have the "the person was so strikingly gorgeous that I lost all senses and five minutes later I'm in love and put my soul out there" moment. While this is fiction, it still needs to be somewhat relatable. You have to picture yourself in the story. I just couldn't with this.
Now let's move on to the supposed "tension" between the two. It lasted a hot minute. Gage sends flowers, goes to the bakery, they fight, he leaves, comes back and they have sex? What? And the car sex was so...odd.
The "proposal" was insulting and I'm disappointed the main character didn't stand up for herself and her dignity.
The whole story was like a bunch of random events, some awkward sex, some more events, sex, the end. No heart, no soul...just words.
I just may skip on the third book...

Sex with secrets. Wow!

This short novel is the second title in Monica Murphy’s "Billionaire Bachelors Club" series, but it stands alone. The tone of this tale, told in first person from both the hero's and heroine’s points of view, is somewhere between new adult and erotica. Both characters are immature and do not communicate well with each other. But the tale is an appealingly smooth read, so fans of romances between a billionaire and an innocent will find much to enjoy.

I totally loved Crave and was really excited to read Torn. It was fun to see what was happening in Archer and Ivy's lives as well as explore the world of Gage Emerson.
As is my normal experience, the guy made the book for me. I love the sexy Gage. He's not looking for a relationship at all. As a matter of fact, it would smart to avoid women completely with that million dollar bet hanging over his head. But this is what I love about Gage. He can't resist Marina. He wants to explore that yummy chemistry between them. And it's so yummy.
Loved reading from his POV. Loved watching him resist his feelings and then to realize his feelings. So male and so fun. I had a harder time with Marina. She was a major B to Gage. She has her reasons but her feelings and body's reaction to him are the complete opposite. I just didn't like her. Well, I did like her when she was in Gage's arms. That seemed to change her into this sex kitten that had Gage falling apart. It was a strange combination that gave me pause. Overall, I enjoyed this book and it read quickly. Its sexy fast and these two are fun to watch as they try to resist each other or use each other for their own gain but really they are quickly falling in love with each other. I definitely want to read book 3 and find out what's up with Matt and this bet. I did struggle at one point, about half through, where I felt like I missed something. There's a shift in the relationship and the motivations of both characters and I never felt like the shift was justified by their actions. Honestly, I thought I had missed a couple chapters and went back checking. Despite that unexplained shift, I liked this book. It's fun and sexy. If you love those quick reads that bring the sexy, pick this one up.
