From Publishers Weekly
Hanegraaff was inspired to write this book on life after death and what we can expect in the hereafter when a life-altering event put him two steps from dying, according to his doctor. Narrator John Gauger delivers a colorful performance that brings the material to life via an energetic and, most importantly, approachable tone. Tackling everything from whether ghosts are real to the notion of sex in heaven, Gauger relates Hanegraaff's take on these matters in a spirited, enthusiastic manner that allows the listener to focus on the positive side of dying rather than on the innumerable negatives. Listeners, regardless of their individual beliefs about the afterlife, will be left with a profound feeling that life is a wonderful thing. A Worthy hardcover. (May)

biblical answers to many questions
By Joan N.
"All of us will spend eternity somewhere. It stands to reason, therefore, that we know precisely what that entails." (9) But how do we know? There has been much written by people who died and returned to tell about it. Hank argues that we must get our information from the bible.
He writes about the three phases of life: life now, the transitional state (immaterial soul), and heaven and hell (when the soul and body are reunited).
He spends quite some time on the transitional state, something new to me. It is important to note, I think, that Hank takes the parable of Lazarus and the rich man (Luke 16) as an actual description of this transitional state.
Hank has an excellent section on the "near death experiences" and their divergent accounts. He also has a good section on the reality of hell.
Other issues Hank addresses include animals in heaven, ghosts, soul sleep, reincarnation, cremation, people who commit suicide, proof of the resurrection, the secret rapture (not biblical), the millennium (none), salvation, spiritual growth, sacraments, and much more.
There are a couple of areas where I think Hank does not do a good job in answering the question. One is the meaning of 1 Peter 3:19, Jesus speaking to the "spirits in prison." The other is Matt. 24:30,34 where Jesus says "this generation" will see the "Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven."
It was interesting to me to read that Hank appealed to the "plain and literal sense" of a passage (176) but then disagreed with an author for taking a "woodenly literalistic interpretation" of a passage (171). We like a literal interpretation when it serves us.
And something else to be aware of when reading this book. Hank uses phrases like, "The New Testament unambiguously communicates" (80), and "as is obvious from the account of Stephen" (81), and of Matt. 24:30, Jesus "was obviously not speaking of his second coming" (173), and "It seems obvious that" (173). Just be aware that some authors use phrases like those to intimidate the reader. If an interpretation is "obvious" and I don't agree with it, what does that say about me? In each of the above cases, Hank's interpretations were anything but "obvious" since the issues have been debated by people for years.
Hanks steps on lots of toes. He is certainly not a fan of those who write about their trips to heaven while dead, Christians included. And he is not a fan of the pretribulation rapture and all that dispensational teaching entails.
A glossary is included at the end of the book as well as suggested reading for further study.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review. The opinions expressed are my own.

This Is One You Don't Want To Miss!
By robin prater
Hank Hanegraaff brings us a book, "Afterlife", that answers many questions. After all, he is the Bible answer man, right? I was eager to receive this new book. What caught my attention was the subtitle, What You Need To Know About Heaven, The Hereafter & Near-Death Experiences.
I tell you, if there is an author I could choose to have coffee with, Hank Hanegraaff would be the one. He has a unique way of bringing question and answer together just as if you were talking face to face. He doesn't shoot over your head. His writing is very clear and precise. He brings forth question after question in this amazing book and gives us scriptural answers. He gives us scripture and directs us to the Word to seek the answers ourselves.
Hank brings questions such as, Can natural explanations account for near-death experiences? What happens to a person who has never heard of Jesus? Does God know who will be in heaven? Will angels ever rebel again? Do animals go to heaven? Will there be sex in heaven? Are there degrees of reward in heaven? Yes, Hank brings all of these and many more. He also has added quotes from C.S Lewis, Joni Eareckson Tada, Peter Kreeft, Phillip Yancy and many more. He isn't afraid to dive into any question. After all, these are questions we have that we are sometimes afraid to ask, right? He even tackles the question of ghosts.
Seriously, this is one amazing book, jam packed with great insight and wisdom. This isn't just Hank's opinion. It isn't a book like that. He uses scripture to point us to the truth. That is one thing that I admire about him. He doesn't just give an answer. He gives scripture and encourages you to seek the answer in the Word.
All those near-death experiences we hear about. You know, the books being written about near-death experiences? Hank tackles those. He warns us to be careful. Again, in all of this he points us straight to God for the answers.
I enjoyed this book very much. It is one that only encourages us to dig deeper into God's Word. It is one to pass on and would make a great gift.
This book is published by Worthy Publishers and was a gift to me by Glass Road for my review.

A Resource worth having!
By Tammy's Book Parlor
Hank Hanegraaff is also known as the Bible Answer Man. Growing up I remember that my dad would listen to Hank Hanegraaff on the radio. Mr. Hanegraaff has written a book about AfterLife which answers questions {in his own words} about what happens when we pass on to the next life.
I think Mr. Hanegraaff makes some valid and interesting points in this book, After Life. He begins the book with heaven. . . Is there really a heaven? Is there a hell? Is there a place called purgatory? I must admit that he did a lot of research and he takes a lot of his research from the Scriptures so if you read the Bible I think you'll come up with some of the same answers as Mr. Hanegraaff. If you don't believe in the Bible, then you'll most definitely have a complete different view.
Of course, I don't think any one will completely agree with all of his views. I don't. Why? Because from my upbringing, from my church attendance and due to my own Biblical views I see a few things differently than he does. But yet as I read this book I was challenged. One cannot just have a opinion, one must back up that opinion. His Scripture references are great to look up and read for your own "research."
This if a great reference book and, will hopefully, challenge you to read and research what you need to know about AfterLife!
