Loved the Cover

I'm on the fence with this one. I rated it 4 rather than 3 stars because I think it has a lot of potential. I love Greek mythology and any book that represents this is going on my TBR. Aside from some minor grammatical errors, there were some inconsistencies or things that just felt a little off. For example, Zeus is a God. He has been around a long time, yet he came off as a young twenty something year old guy trying to win over a sweet, innocent girl. Not some all powerful deity who just happened to be exiled temporarily. Wait! He did come across that way at first while in the club after having just met Karly, but then he drifted away from that. And most twenty something year old guys don't own a resort/casino in Vegas who aren't "harder/tougher". I think the author was trying to go for his coming across as someone used to getting what he wants to "changing" into a guy that Karly would be interested in, but he felt off. He was working too hard to get there at the start of their relationship. He does come to explain why he came off the way he did in the club, but he also stumbles through that conversation. Again, not how I would expect a deity to come across.
We know Karly is 21 and off to Vegas to continue her education after completing 2 years of college in her home town. Small time girl overwhelmed by sin city, yep. Some of her responses were interesting too. She was angry about his being divorced because he had not told her when they first met. Um, when I first meet someone I don't start off with the negatives about myself such as "I was married, but turns out that was a big mistake". Those are things shared as a relationship develops (basically, when you know you want to be in one and are both on the same page). She runs away from her parents home and leaves her "boyfriend" there to explain why she ran off? BTW, I don't see the King of the Gods calling himself "boyfriend" nor giving goofy grins. Sexy, playful, cheeky, sure, but not goofy.
So, I do love the idea of the story, but (and people, this could just be me) I think our hero needs to be a little more consistent than he came across. Karly eventually comes around and she is easier to believe than he was. Again, I did like the story line and will read the next book (Poseidon is my favorite brother), but I hope he is more reflective of what a God would be throughout the book and not just at the beginning and sprinkled here and there throughout the remainder of the story.

Good paranormal romance

Zeus is a paranormal romance by new author Kamery Solomon. It's about a young woman named Karly, who is a little naïve and sheltered from the world. Against her parent's wishes, she moves to Las Vegas to attend an art school. She moves into a place with a few roommates, and they take her out and show her around. She ends up meeting a handsome guy named Zeus, who ends up being a cocky jerk. She isn't a one-night stand kind of girl, so she kicks him to the curb.
Zeus isn't used to women saying "no" to him. He is a total player, and I think he was stunned to find a woman that didn't instantly fall for all his charms. He is determined for her to go out with him. His personality practically does a 180 overnight. That part didn't feel real to me. He went from being a player to wanting only Karly rather quickly. I think it would have been better if his personality change would have spanned a longer period of time. He ended up being a great guy and won Karly's heart - though he was keeping many secrets.
Zeus and Karly had some good chemistry and sort-of-steamy moments. Their relationship was very, very tame if you know what I mean. If you're looking for a steaming hot adult romance, then this isn't the book for you. If you love sweet, clean romances - then you will probably love this.

Just couldn't finish.

I was looking for something to read and came upon this book. It had quite a few high rated reviews and the storyline seemed interesting. Plus, it's free to boot, so I decided to give it a whirl. I could barely make myself read to 30% of it before I couldn't read any more.
This is MY personal opinion.
It was suppose to be girls in their young 20's, and yet they acted as though they were in high school. (Except they go drinking and clubbing and are in college.) There are errors in the writing as well. Example: Lambert writes that Karly drinks nothing but water while they were out at the club. But yet, when Karly wakes up she has a "hangover" headache from drinking. I even went back and actually looked for an area where it said she drank anything other than water. Because I thought maybe I missed it somewhere. Nope! It says she got water when they showed up and water later on. There is, however, an area where she ordered something from the waiter but you don't know what because it's left out. And not because it's left out on purpose. Here's what it said in the book: "When my throat screamed for the dry fire to be put out, I made my way back to the bar, squeezing through the ever-growing number of people in the room. My savior, the waiter, flashed me a dazzling smile as he handed it over and I smiled back. I'd missed having guys my own age to flirt with." Okay. #1. WHAT did the waiter hand over?! (Well you end up guessing it's water by what's said in next paragraph.) #2. So, are we to assume the waiter is her age then? Because there is nothing explaining what he looks like except her mentioning flirting.
Then there's the part where Zeus shows up. At first he seems like a spoiled man. Okay, I can go with that. But then he's written like a petulant child. I mean, COME ON! It's ZEUS! He's a God for crying out loud! Let's forget that he's apparently going to be falling in love with a young girl as it is. But he is NOT going to stand in an apartment parking lot yelling and stomping on a bunch of roses like someone stole his tricycle!
I could go on, but I'm sure you get my point. Now I do want to make something clear. I think this new author does have potential. I think she just needs to research more. Build characters more and give more details so we can actually picture what she's trying to show us.
As for recommending this book....I'm sorry, but, even though I only read a little more than 30%, I just can't recommend this one.
